Behind the music

The story so far.

DP Express is a Haitian konpa band that grew out of Les Difficiles de Pétion-Ville, one of the mini-jazz groups that The Haitian Times says brought a new dynamic to the scene alongside Shleu Shleu and Scorpio Universel. Its first lead singer, Hervé Bleus, known as Boulou, was the mind behind the hit Pale Pale'w and The Haitian Times credits him with the debut album M pa pran kontak, with tracks such as Sansib pa jwe and Souke kò w. The paper notes that the singer Ti Manno later carried the band to new heights. Fans surveyed by The Haitian Times still name David by D.P. Express among their all-time konpa favorites, and some recall the band shaking the walls of Gymnasium Vincent on Rue Romain. Bleus died on May 3, 2024, news shared by Philippe "Pipo" Saint-Louis. On YouTube, the band's Topic channel carries Pale Pale Ou, David, Ensem' Ensem' and Bariè.
