Behind the music

The story so far.

Nu Look is a konpa band based in Miami and led by singer, keyboardist and composer Arly Larivière. Wikipedia dates it to 2000, when Larivière, who grew up in Cap-Haïtien, partnered with singer Gazzman Couleur after the band D-Zine; Gazzman left in 2010 to start Disip, and Larivière later became the band's sole lead voice. Albums include Big Mistake, Abo, I Got This, My Time, No Stress and Just For You. WLRN reported in 2016 that Nu Look and Klass were the two top sellers on Haitian radio and street stalls, and The Haitian Times recalls Nu Look loyalists trusting its sultry love songs against Djakout Mizik at a 2005 double bill in Queens. In 2023 the paper said the band still stood out after more than 20 years, pointing to Mwen Deçu with Medjy. On Valentine's Day 2026 Nu Look staged a konpa symphony at the theater of Madison Square Garden, where Larivière sang a bolero tribute to his father and welcomed Wyclef Jean.
