Behind the music

The story so far.

Kreyol La is a Haitian konpa band founded in January 2005 after the breakup of Konpa Kreyol. When keyboardist David Dupoux left to start Krezi Mizik with Mikaben, the rest of Konpa Kreyol, led by singer Tjo Zenny, carried on as Kreyol La, according to Wikipedia. The early sound sat close to the street culture of Port-au-Prince and leaned on drum machines, but from 2008 the group rebuilt itself as a full band with keyboards, guitar, bass, drums and percussion. Its studio albums include Viktwa in 2006, Evolution in 2010, Invictus in 2015, Domination in 2018 and Emotion in 2020. The Haitian Times lists Kreyòl La among the konpa groups with large international followings, and at the end of 2025 the paper covered a Port-au-Prince show where the band shared the stage with rappers Trouble Boy and Steve Joseph Bryan. Its official YouTube channel carries No Drama, M Pap Pale and Se Domaj.
