Behind the music

The story so far.

Zenglen is a Haitian konpa band that The Haitian Times places among the 1990s groups behind konpa's nouvelle génération, crediting its album An Nou Alez with playing an important role in launching that movement. Over the years the band has passed through several well-known musicians. Richie, the drummer who later founded Klass, was credited as Richie of Zenglen on Ou Sé, a collaboration with singer Gazzman Couleur. Its Deezer catalog includes Easy Konpa, 5ème Vites, Do It Right Nou Pèdi Fren, 5 Etwal, Rezilta, ZMania and No Dead End, the 2018 album carrying M Sweté'l Dansé. The Haitian Times names Zenglen among the konpa groups that have built large international followings, and in 2024 the band released Happy 69th Compas to mark the genre's anniversary.
