Behind the music

The story so far.

Tasha P, named as Tasha Peltier by Richès Karayib, became the first woman ever to win the Calypso Monarch title when she took it in 2011. Her songs from that year's final, including "Let Children" and "Woman Time", are on YouTube. She has stayed near the top of Dominica's competition since. Soca News lists her in third place behind King Dice and Bobb at the 2019 final in Roseau, and second to Bobb in the 2021 virtual edition, streamed from the Old Mill Cultural Center in Canefield. She also sang her 2020 song "Treadmill" at the Queen of Queens Regional Female Calypso Competition in 2022, in a performance posted by Discover Montserrat. Her own channel carries "Calypso High" from 2023 and a 2019 soca track, "D.A Whine", recorded with the band Swingin' Stars. In 2025 she was one of six former monarchs in the semi-finals and made the final.
