Joy Stoute, who performs as JOY, won the 2025 Calypso Monarch title, unseating ten-time champion King Dice. Richès Karayib reports that she was only the second woman in Dominica's competition to take the crown, after Tasha Peltier in 2011, and that her songs dealt with serious social issues without naming individuals. Her first song in the final, "Quest for Love", is framed as a conversation with a boy abused since childhood. Her second was a composition by former monarch Deryck St. Rose about humility and arrogance. She had already reached the 2024 final, where Soca News placed her fourth, and at the Dominica Music Awards 2025 she was named Calypso Artist of the Year. Her YouTube channel carries "Opportunity to change", "The Ground We Walking On" and "On de block", the last labelled as her 2026 calypso entry.
