Behind the music

The story so far.

Mikado, whose first name is Michael, is a composer and producer from Fort-de-France, Martinique, born in 1998 according to his Qobuz biography. He started out next to Lijay, working first as a DJ and then moving into beatmaking. He lists influences from American trap and dancehall to local names such as Ti Blica, and his shatta productions built his reputation. Remixes of Mixx Steph's "Bienvenue à Saint-Pierre" and Fécat'jy's "Toutouni" were early successes. His own YouTube channel carries both his releases, such as "La Pli Si Tol", and productions for other singers, including Cécinelle's "An Lè'y" and "Bad Shot" with 3 Lettres and Foxii. Lijay's biography, for its part, cites Mikado as a collaborator on "Cités d'or shatta". In 2024 he gained attention in France as a co-composer of "Alpha" by Damso and Kalash.
