Behind the music
The story so far.
Dezral is Dezral Long, a calypsonian, comedian and musician born in Castries, Saint Lucia. He is the son of The Mighty Pep, an eight-time Kaiso Monarch, and SocaNews reported that he also works as a teacher at Bocage Secondary School. In 2022 he reached the finals of both the National Power Soca Monarch and the Calypso Monarch, and he won the calypso crown with Legacy, a song about following his father into the arena. Pep joined him on stage that night. His other 2022 entry, Calling All Saints, dealt with the destroyed St Jude Hospital. His soca side includes I Boom Already. The 2025 season brought a double. With Jardel he won the Power Soca Monarch on The Car, a Corolla Riddim release tagged as Dennery Segment and soca, and the next night he won the Calypso Monarch with The Kaiso Goat and The Immigrant, scoring 766 points to TC Brown's 764.
