Behind the music
Bomani is the stage name of Orande Charles, a soca singer from Campden Park, just north west of Kingstown. Searchlight reported in July 2004 that he won both the Soca Monarch and the Road March at Vincy Mas that year with "I Am Soca," finishing ahead of Poorsah's "La Jabless" and Maddzart's "Road Soldiers" in the Monarch final. At the time he was a member of the band HS Phaktor and had spent about five years on the music scene. In 2011 he placed second in the Ragga Soca Monarch with "I Ain't Missing," behind Skarpyon. His own YouTube channel carries later songs, among them "Ah Not Going (Down There Tonight)," "This Island" with Omoro Thomas and "Sailin'," which was released as Vincy ragga soca in 2019. The Wikipedia overview of music in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines lists him among island artists whose music has spread through the Caribbean and the United States.
