Shaunelle McKenzie is a calypso and soca singer who holds eight junior calypso crowns, which iWitness News described in 2019 as a record in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Her senior breakthrough took time. She finished second in the 2018 Queen of Calypso, the year that show returned after 15 years, then won the Queen of Calypso in June 2019. A few weeks later she became National Calypso Monarch at Victoria Park with "Crown Me Now" and "What Is Your Role?", ending a 17 year pursuit and beating defending four time monarch Man Zangie. She opened that performance inside a closed casket, staged as her own funeral, and her songs were written by Barbadian writer Chrystal Cummings-Beckles. On the soca side, she placed second in the 2016 Ragga Soca Monarch with "Wet and Wild." Later releases include "Doh Study Meh (Out Yuh Mouth)" on the Sweet Treat Riddim in 2023 and "Fetting" on the Feel Good Riddim in 2024. In 2023 she placed fourth in the Calypso Monarch.
