Behind the music

The story so far.

Kemmy is the stage name of Orande Christopher, a soca singer whose "De Call" is labelled the 2022 Road March in a Searchlight video of him performing the song at that year's Soca Monarch finals, where One News SVG placed him fourth. He moved up to third in the 2023 Soca Monarch with "Spirit of Carnival," behind Fireman and Fligh, and returned to the final in 2024 with "De Blame." His roots are in calypso. iWitness News reported in 2026 that Kemmy, now based in the United States, had started in the junior calypso category at age eight and came back to the Calypso Monarch after more than 20 years away, singing "Hope." The audio of "De Call" is on his own channel, and an official music video sits on a second channel. Start with that song, then watch the Searchlight clip of his monarch performance to hear how it works live.
