Behind the music
The story so far.
Pekos Jr is the stage name of Gregory Cato, a soca singer who has reached the Ragga Soca Monarch final at Vincy Mas more than once. iWitness News listed him as a 2023 finalist with "Poor Keyboard," which was released on YouTube as Vincy soca that year. One News SVG named him again among the twelve Ragga Soca finalists in July 2025, this time with "Looking for Sober," a song from the Sweet Rush Project issued as 2025 soca. His carnival catalog also includes "Muddy Puddles" on the Van Jam Riddim for 2025 and "Bruk Off Papi," credited simply to Pekos and released as 2024 soca with an Afrokana vibe. He also records for the Christmas season. "Two Plate/Torn" came out on part two of the Pangarang Riddim as parang in 2023, and "Leggo The Grunt" followed on the Full Beard Riddim as 2024 parang soca. Start with "Poor Keyboard," then sample a parang track for contrast.
