Behind the music
The story so far.
Spectrum Band is a U.S. Virgin Islands soca band established in 2006. A 2018 New York Amsterdam News report named its lineup as Malvern V. Gumbs, Daniella "Lioness" Richardson, Akeel Breedy, George Thomas, Moziah Miller, Leonard "Lenny" Monsanto, Wendel Thomas and Fitzroy "Figgy" O'Garro, and said the band was the first in the territory to win nine consecutive road march songs in its first 12 years. The band's own YouTube channel labels "Wake Up To Wuk Up" as the St. Thomas Road March of 2013, "Left Right Stop Wukup" for 2015, "Ah Dohn Care" for 2016 and "Cyan Mash Up Carnival" for 2018. In 2014 LargeUp described its song "Bump" as a nod to quelbe, written with O'Garro and featuring quelbe singer Eldred "Edgy" Christian and saxophonist Dr. Sax. Other releases include "Guilty" (Soca 2015) and "My Life" (2017 Soca), and its Deezer catalog runs from Party Nice Again in 2006 to 2026 singles.
