Sonny Mann is one of the early champions of the Chutney Soca Monarch, the competition founded in the 1995 to 1996 Carnival season. The Wikipedia history of chutney soca names him first in its list of monarchs crowned between 1996 and 2010, a list that also includes Rikki Jai, Heeralal Rampartap and Rooplal Girdharie. A West Indian Chutney Music upload of his song Roll Bhowjie labels it the 1996 winning performance, from the second round of that final. Lootala is among his recordings, and it also appears as Loota La on his official Topic channel under the spelling Sonny Man. Cool Yourself is issued by West Indies Music Collection under the banner The Chutney Legend, and Everybody Dancing is another of his songs in circulation. The same Wikipedia article describes how the 1995 to 1996 season pushed chutney soca into the mainstream of Carnival, the moment in which his win took place.
