Behind the music
Rane Blackman is a soca singer born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Maloney, who now lives and works in the United States. Caribbean Today described her as a New Yorker when it covered Dutty, a 2022 soca track written by Keelan Azaryah Callender and recorded in Queens. Earlier singles named in that piece include Bam Bam on the Explore Riddim in 2020 and My Behavior in 2021. Socanews later reported that Careless, her 2024 tune on the Gone Again Riddim, took her onto the Crop Over stage in Barbados, and that she brought Doh Fraid, So Hot and Free Up to Trinidad Carnival 2025. The same profile notes that she serves in the US military alongside her music, played the Vibes with Voicey event in New York over Labor Day 2024, and hosts Behind the Soca, an Instagram Live series with songwriters and producers. Her own YouTube channel carries Free Up on the Sunrise Riddim and My Party on the Tek One Riddim.
