Behind the music

The story so far.

Konshens is a Jamaican dancehall deejay who has spent several carnival seasons recording soca as well. In March 2025 the Jamaica Observer reported that he had put out three soca songs for that year, Flirt, Bumpers in the Air and Rum Buss, and quoted him saying he fell in love with soca a few years earlier and now loves it almost as much as dancehall. In the same interview he said he prefers J'Ouvert to the road march and wants Jamaica to become a soca, dancehall and reggae destination. The paper noted that his last dancehall studio album came out in 2019. His soca catalogue on YouTube goes back further: Soca People with Busy Signal on the King Kong Riddim is posted as a 2015 Crop Over release, Boost Har Up rides the Dragon Berry Riddim, and Rum Bus on the Her Mudda Riddim is labelled Soca 2025. Apple Music refers to him as a Jamaican artist in its radio listings.
