Behind the music

The story so far.

King Zacari is a calypsonian with a recorded presence at Antigua Carnival stretching back to the 1990s. One of the oldest uploads under his name is "Toon Town", dated 1996, and a 2011 recording of him is labelled Antigua and Barbuda calypso. The Antigua government's channel filmed his round one performance at the 2013 Calypso Monarch, and the Festivals Commission posted his live set from the 2015 competition, where he sang "Identical Twins". The Commission's channel also carries "So Much Rasta" and "Comfort Of Thorns", both tagged as Antigua calypso, and "So Much Rasta" is among his most viewed songs. Another widely shared track is "Guilty of being Black". Wikipedia's Antigua Carnival article cites a 2022 report that Zacari was crowned one of two Calypso Monarchs that year, after the contest split into separate categories.
