Behind the music

The story so far.

De Bear is the name under which Keithroy Morson, a calypsonian from Montserrat, became known across the region. He also performs as The Voice or De Voice. Discover MNI, reporting on the 2025 Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch in Anguilla, described him as a former Leeward Islands champion who appeared that year as a guest artiste. His recorded performances span both Montserrat and Antigua. "Man Is Dust" was posted as Antigua calypso from 2002, and his live "Melee For Sale" at the 2011 Antigua calypso finals is the most viewed clip of him online. "Leopard Come Home" is another widely shared song. At home he has been a fixture of the Montserrat Calypso Finals, singing "Let the Master Show You" in 2019, "Call Daddy" and "By Faith" in the 2020 monarch contest, and "Gi Dem Licks" in 2025. Discover Montserrat has also gathered his work into a Best of Keithroy Morson compilation.
