Behind the music
The story so far.
King Young Destroyer is a calypsonian who has competed at Antigua Carnival for more than twenty years. Wikipedia's Antigua Carnival article lists Young Destroyer among notable winners of the Junior Calypso Monarch. Early recordings shared online include "Queen of My Heart" from 2003 and "Back A The Bus" from 2006, and a video on his own channel titled "calypso king of the antigua 2007" is the most watched upload under his name. The Antigua government filmed him in both rounds of the 2014 Calypso Monarch, singing "Madeba Farewell" and "Tek Dat", and the Festivals Commission posted his live performance of "Country First" in 2015. In 2019 he entered the competition with "Youth Vibes" and "Stand Up Caribbean". He was back in the 2025 Calypso Monarch, and Caribbean Insight Television then reported him crowned 2026 Calypso Monarch in Antigua.
