King Perai is the calypso name of Manoel Ferriera, a former national Calypso Monarch. Guyana Times listed him among the ten finalists for the 2017 senior calypso title and singled him out, with Young Bill Rogers, as a former calypso king to watch. A 2015 video posted by Earth Home presents him as that year's Guyana Calypso Monarch. In the 2018 final at the National Park he finished second with a piece that News Source Guyana described as a humorous look at the coalition government and how everything in Guyana had turned green since it took office, a song the crowd greeted with laughter. His recordings are released through SSignal Productions and carry Calypso tags on YouTube, including "Fight Down" (Calypso 2016), "Perai Justice" (Calypso 2017), "In Writing" (Calypso 2023) and "AI" (Calypso 2026), which shows him still writing new material in recent seasons.
