Behind the music

The story so far.

Invader is the calypso name of Ignatius Tissin, a four-time Calypso Monarch. The Voice lists his winning years and songs as 1985, with Carnal Knowledge and Help We Father; 1986, with Apartheid and War Games; 1993, with King Tonight and Salbot; and 2010, with Stay in Your Section and Leave My Beaches Alone. The same paper notes that The Mighty Pep's first crown in 1987 stopped Invader from completing a three-peat. Beh Le Lesh was posted as a 2001 carnival song, and Smile followed in 2013, tagged as both soca and calypso. He was a Calypso Monarch finalist again in 2015 and was among the former monarchs who tried to unseat The Mighty Pep in the 2018 final. His soca side showed in 2019, when he finished fourth in the Groovy Soca Monarch with Cock Up. Archive uploads also carry Ting Dook and I Have To Be King Tonight.
