Behind the music
The story so far.
Elimus "Inspector" Gilbert has been part of Grenada's soca competitions since their early days. A 2019 history of the Soca Monarch in NOW Grenada recounts that he won the 1993 Party Monarch, held at the Sugar Mill nightclub in Grand Anse and modelled on Trinidad's Soca Monarch. He kept contending for decades. Spicemas results list him fourth in the 2014 Soca Monarch with "No Current", second in the 2015 Groovy final and fourth in that year's Power Soca, and fourth again in the 2017 Soca Monarch with 384 points. In 2018 the Legends in Concert awards named him Best Stage Performer. GBTV CultureShare's archive shows him performing "Soca Hurricane" in 1993, and DJ Socaholic's uploads include "Tivoli Drummers" from 2000 and "More Jab" with Mr Legz from Spicemas 2014. In 2025 he featured on Lil Jelo's "I Do", released with an official music video.
