Aruba
Electronic road jam band built around a rotating cast of carnival singers.
Behind the music
Dushi Band of Aruba is a carnival party band founded in the early 1990s by keyboardist, programmer, composer, arranger and producer Hildward Croes, according to the band's own SoundCloud profile, which lists it under Oranjestad. That profile calls it one of the first electronic dance bands in the Caribbean and one of the longest running bands on the island, and it tags the sound as techno soca and jamback. The group works with guest vocalists rather than a single frontman. Its YouTube channel dates Jamming 40 Years with Long Roy to 1994, Breakin' Away with Caiso Teddy to 1996, Dushi Tera with Cachete to 1998 and Mua! with Menjoe to 2005. Caiso Teddy also fronts the title track MUSIC, while Happy features Mighty Mike Saladin. Deezer lists albums including Carnaval Hits 2k2, Cyant Stop Weh (2003), Music (2007), Life's a Beach (2008) and Born Ready (2009), and the band later posted a Soca Gangnam Style mashup.
