Sly is the performing name of Sylvinus Charles, whose official biography traces his family to Belle Vue, Vieux Fort, in Saint Lucia. He went to Belle Vue Combined School and Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary, and in 2008 he won an original song competition in Vieux Fort North. His breakthrough came in 2019, when he entered the Groovy Soca Monarch for the first time and won it with Mix Up, recorded on the Fuego Riddim. Five years later he took the same crown again with Damn Proud Lucian, finishing ahead of six-time Groovy Soca Monarch Arthur Allain, who sang Seven Times. The Saint Lucia Government also posted Damn Proud Lucian as the official jingle for the island's 46th Independence anniversary. His biography lists a main stage set at the 2025 Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival and shows in England, Canada and Martinique. Other releases on the Vye Twizeen Boyz channel include Soca from 2022 and Captain from 2026.
