Shemmy J is the stage name of Shemmy Johannes, a Saint Lucian singer and songwriter. A 2015 profile in The Voice traced his move from dancehall to soca and listed songs he had co-written for other acts, including J Mouse's Hurt It, the 2014 Road March winner. His own catalog leans on soca and bouyon. Ou Dou with Edwin, produced by Litleboy, came out in 2022, and Spoil You followed in 2023 under the tag Bouyon Soca 2023 with DSM Music Group as label. Ms Grippy, on the Teamfoxx Nasty Riddim, was issued for the 2023 St Lucia carnival season. In 2024 he released LIAR with Litleboy and the album Dutty Papi. Riches Karayib named him and Umpa among ten Caribbean artists to watch in 2025 and noted his nomination for Best New Soca Artist at the Caribbean Music Awards 2024.
