Samuel Medas is a gospel singer of Guyanese descent who won Guyana's Soca Monarch in 2021 on his first attempt. News Source Guyana reported that his winning song, "Stadium", told the story of getting through the pandemic and returning to the national stadium to celebrate, and that he also took the Best Newcomer award at a competition held virtually from the National Cultural Centre. The same report names his gospel hits "Royalty" and "Overflow" and quotes him dedicating the crown to Jesus Christ. HGPTV, which described him as the reigning Soca Monarch, later covered his 2022 defence with the song "People". He finished third that year with 245 points, behind Jumo Primo and Granny Ivy. Before the soca crown, Barbados Today covered an album launch in Barbados where he sang his own songs "Ready", "Sweet" and "Joy Cometh" and was joined by Nicovia. His YouTube channel releases tag songs such as "Stadium" and "People" as soca.
