Behind the music
The story so far.
Neval Chatelal is a chutney soca singer who has held the Chutney Soca Monarch title. Ahead of Carnival 2020 the Trinidad Express described him as joint reigning monarch, sharing the crown with Nishard Mayrhoo, and listed him for a concert with KI and The Band at the Naparima Bowl in San Fernando. He was back in the final in 2025, performing fifth in a field that included Machel Montano and Rikki Jai. His Deezer catalogue runs from Tippy Toe and Take Yuh Horn in 2019, plus a remix of Take Yuh Horn in 2020, through Love Right Now in 2023, Musafir in 2024 and Remedy in 2025. He recorded Wonders of this World with Machel Montano, released on Montano's channel, and a Kanta Rani mashup with Savita Singh in 2022. He also sat in as a guest judge on the second season of Emerging Voices.
