GI is the stage name of Imran Beharry, also billed as GI Beharry and General Imran. The Trinidad Express has described him as a former three-time consecutive Chutney Soca Monarch, and his run included a 2020 win with Anna Anna, captured in a CehTV clip of the final. In February 2022 TTT reported that he would defend the crown against 14 finalists on Carnival Saturday at SAPA in San Fernando. He had also reached the finals in 2016. Drink Together carried him to the 2021 title, and his own channel, GI Music, carries its video along with Living Happy and Loner, both labelled chutney soca. In 2023 he and his wife Natasha drew criticism on TikTok over what they later called a prank to promote a song, and the couple apologised afterward. Rick Ram told the Express that he kept a cordial working relationship with GI and had shared a stage with him at the Caribbean Premier League Cricket Carnival in Guyana.
