Marcus "Lavaman" James is a soca and jab jab artist and the 2012 winner of Grenada's Soca Monarch, according to NOW Grenada, which reported in 2013 that he would not defend the title. His manager at the time was Wayne Green, and his 2013 releases included "Wuk Her Like a Boss", "Soca Child", "Paranoid" and "Madd Mass". In 2016 commentator Arley Gill singled out his jab song about a big snake in a cukus bag as one of the hits of the season, and Lavaman said in a statement that "Cuckus Bag" won the 2016 Road March title at Caribana in Toronto. He returned to competition in 2017 and tied for second in the Groovy Monarch with Blacka Dan and Terra D Governor. Uploads on JulianspromosTV include "Gyal Alone" on the Muddy Jab Riddim and "Psycho", produced by Wayne Green and Homebase Music, both from 2012. More recently he released "Call The Police" on the Black Crown Riddim for 2026.
