Behind the music

The story so far.

Kwasi Ace is the stage name of Kwasi Edmondson, a soca singer HGPTV introduced in 2020 as a former Soca Monarch. In that report he welcomed the growing interest of young artistes in the annual competition while arguing that there was still plenty of room to improve the tracks being produced. His 2014 entry "Still In The Game" on the Glass Bottle Riddim also survives as a full live performance from the Soca Monarch stage, and his 2015 Mashramani release was "Forking Good". He returned to the Soca Monarch in 2023 with "Nothing Nah Bother Meh". News Source Guyana called him a crowd favourite who energised the audience that night, though he finished outside the top four in a contest won by Adrian Dutchin. During that set he prayed for the country on stage. Other uploads include "Certificate" on the First Call Riddim for Guyana Carnival 2018, which keeps him in the carnival season beyond the monarch contest.
