Behind the music

The story so far.

Derrick Seales is a soca vocalist whose name turns up on band recordings as well as solo releases. One of his best known credits is "Shake It", recorded with Sound Revolution and later shared online in a remastered version. As a solo act he appears on a string of riddim projects: "This Is What" came out on the Elysium Riddim for the 2018 season, and Deezer also lists "All on the Road" (2017), "Parang On The Beach" on the Christmas Tree Riddim (2025) and "One Gyal Alone" (2026). Newer singles include "Cyah Wait" for 2023 and "Handyman" for 2026. Sokah2Soca described "Handyman" as a playful tune about labour that leans on the calypso habit of double entendre with a modern soca feel. Ronnie Homer wrote it, sang background vocals and engineered it, and Rich Kid produced it. The same post gives his origin as Trinidad, and his music also appears on the compilation Authentic Trinidad & Tobago, Vol. 1 (2022).
