Behind the music

The story so far.

Atlantik is a soca band whose front line was headlined by the singers Burton Toney and Destra. Its best known hits are "All Aboard" and "Oh Suzanna", and its sound pulls together ballads, chutney, folk, pop, R&B, reggae, soca and worldbeat. Through the 1990s and into the 2000s the band released a steady run of albums on JW Productions: Caribbean Party (1991), Good Music To Dance (1992), Hot Caribbean Music (1993), Hot & Spicy (1997), 360 Degrees Soca (1998), Making Waves (1999), Hard As Steel (2000), Breakin All the Rules (2001) and Full Speed Ahead (2002). Older uploads include "Horn Song" from 1997 and "French Man Jam", and "All Aboard" also sits on the band's own topic channel. The Trinidad Guardian, profiling Road March winner Sanell Dempster, notes that she sang with Atlantik early in her career, before finding a longer home with Sound Revolution.
