Meryl

The story so far.

Meryl is Cindy Elismar, a singer and rapper from Martinique. In a December 2024 La Dépêche interview, she recalled hearing reggae, compa and merengue through her father and recording early demos in a cousin’s studio. Moving to Montpellier helped turn that interest into a professional project. She described approaching people through Instagram before a producer began sending demos for her to write to, developing the topline work that preceded her wider solo recognition. For Meryl, naming Martinique and involving artists from home are deliberate choices. She cited Dembow Martinica as one example of that collective visibility. Her source-bound catalog distinguishes solo releases, collaborations and later appearances instead of reducing the repertoire to one genre or two songs.
