Behind the music

The story so far.

Keros-N is Sébastien Julien-Emmanuel Lurel, a Guadeloupean artist working principally in dancehall alongside rap, zouk and gwo ka. Discussing Grand Cru with France-Guyane in November 2024, he described building a connected album from beginning to end, a change from gathering his strongest individual songs. The conversation linked that work with family, resilience and conditions in Guadeloupe, including water access and the cost of living. Grice TV’s October 2026 Culture & Transmission episode subsequently placed Shatta Hard after Grand Cru and introduced a discussion of writing, cultural transmission and the movement of Antillean music beyond its home audience. These dated interviews offer two views of his work, with the artist’s own explanation of how his album-making approach developed.
