Behind the music

The story so far.

Skinny Fabulous is Gamal Doyle, a singer and songwriter from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. His collaborations include Famalay with Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin, and Come Home with Nailah Blackman. In a January 2023 Newsday interview about his first album, BAD, he described moving beyond a career organized around touring and festival performances. The title stands for Beyond A Doubt. He wanted a substantial recorded body of work that listeners could find and return to outside the Carnival season. The interview describes a 23-track project, collaborations across the Caribbean, and music drawing on soca, dancehall and Afrobeats. Doyle also discussed making room for softer vocals and personal subjects alongside the more forceful delivery associated with his performances. Famalay and Come Home provide two listening introductions below. Their individual performer credits matter: both are collaborations, and the selected edition links identify the credited partners rather than treating every appearance as a solo Skinny Fabulous recording.
