The story so far.

Kalash describes dancehall, shatta, reggae and West Indian trap as central influences on Tombolo. In his June 2022 interview with A Rap & A Cup of Tea, the Martinique-raised artist explained that Laptop with Maureen was also a way to introduce shatta and its performers to listeners in France and Europe. He spoke about choosing collaborators through musical and personal connections, including inviting Fanny J after writing a song outside the zouk-love setting listeners might expect. He recalled recording Tombolo last and then choosing its name for the album. These are the artist’s retrospective accounts; the catalog separately records individual editions and does not merge the many unrelated streaming profiles named Kalash.
