Kevon Carter is a singer best known for smooth, slower soca. Sokah2Soca introduced Your Wine as the work of the smooth voiced Kevon Carter, a song written for the Kizomba Riddim, produced by Soca Rebel and aimed at the 2017 Trinidad and Tobago carnival. The blog pitched it to listeners who would sooner groove in a corner with a partner than chase fast songs. In an Apple Music artist interview, Carter recalled opening for Buju Banton and Super Cat, among others, at the Madison Square Garden Theater in 2008, and named a 2016 Tobago Jazz festival slot, opening for Lauryn Hill and Maxwell, as a career highlight. Bob Marley, Sade and Motown are listed there as big influences. The singles Call Me Baby (2016), Best Wishes (2019) and Welcome Back (2022) followed, and Carter also features on Tricia Lee Kelshall's The Calendar. Breaking All the Rules came out in 2025, and Rum In My Cup was promoted as a Soca 2026 release.
