Soca / Calypso • Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
A singer, songwriter and producer whose career connects junior calypso with soca.
Behind the music
Kerwin Du Bois is a Port of Spain-born singer, songwriter and producer with roots in school calypso competitions. The biography hosted by Leeds West Indian Carnival traces his journey through junior competition, a Calypso Youth Exchange in Britain and a period living in the UK, where he won the UK Calypso Monarch title. His work subsequently extended into soca, both in his own performances and in songs made for other artists. Bacchanalist and Too Real mark two documented competitive milestones: the biography records second place in the 2012 Groovy Soca Monarch with Bacchanalist and his first win in that category with Too Real in 2014. The listening entries below connect those titles with specific digital editions.
