Behind the music

The story so far.

Olatunji Yearwood, performing as Olatunji, is a singer from Trinidad and Tobago whose career includes calypso, parang and soca. His official biography traces those beginnings to Trinity College, where he joined a parang group and entered the school’s calypso competition. He later performed with Traffik and the Roy Cape All-Stars before launching his solo career during the 2012 Trinidad Carnival season. Awakening, released through FOX FUSE in 2016, brings together 17 tracks, including Ola and Oh Yay. His official account also documents his 2018 appearance on The X Factor UK, where he performed Bodyline and Jiggle It. Engine Room provides another listening route, with the artist’s published song credits naming De Red Boyz as producers and an ensemble that includes drums, keys, bass, pan, guitars and brass. The links below introduce Ola on the selected Awakening edition and the Engine Room video. They connect the biographical story to named recordings while keeping each song’s contributors and release history separate.
