Kaï, also written Kai, is the konpa group led by singer and keyboardist Richard Cavé, one of the three founders of Carimi. When Carimi broke up in 2016, Cavé went on to found Kaï while bandmate Mickael Guirand formed Vayb, according to Wikipedia, and The Haitian Times later described the two as busy with their own bands when promoters pushed a Carimi reunion. Kaï's music videos include Criminel, Malad, Demisyone from May 2017, Koupab with Bedjine and Jije'm with Medjy of Enposib. French Wikipedia credits Rutshelle Guillaume's 2017 duet with Kaï, Kanse, with making her famous, and the pair met again on Tolere w. The Haitian Times photographed Cavé performing with Kaï at its Banboch Kreyol festival in 2024, and listed Kaï, directed by Richard Cavé, among the konpa groups whose shows lifted Port-au-Prince at the end of 2025, including a large crowd at the Karibe Hotel in Pétion-Ville on December 27.
