A Soufriere singer who won back-to-back Groovy Soca Monarch titles in 2014 and 2015.
Behind the music
Arthur Allain is a Saint Lucian soca singer from Soufriere. In a July 2016 profile, The Voice traced his path from Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary School to the Matrix Band, which made him its vocalist in 2008, and to EvaLucian, the band he formed in 2013 with Gus d’Auvergne and Yannick Plante. That year he placed second in the Groovy Monarch with Jumping Alone; in 2014 Numb brought his first Groovy Soca Monarch title, and the paper reported a second consecutive title the following year. The profile identifies songwriter Dan-yelle Du Bois as the writer of Jumping Alone, Numb and (Who I Am) West Indian, the last remixed as I Am A Saint Lucian for Saint Lucia’s 2016 Independence activities. For Numb the two credits differ: The Voice names Dan-yelle Du Bois as its writer, while the provider credit for a 2018 single edition lists Elijah Allain; both are reported here without resolving them.
