Behind the music

The story so far.

Adesh Samaroo is a chutney soca singer from Tacarigua in Trinidad, born in 1982. He broke through late in 2002 with Rum Till I Die, the title song of his album of the same name. His next release, Caroni Close Down, took its theme from the shutdown of the state sugar company Caroni (1975) Ltd. A third single, Rajin Jheem Jheem Joom, opened the door to shows overseas. In 2004 he won the National Chutney Monarch and shared a stage with the Indian singer Kanchan, and over 2004 and 2005 he collected eleven 103 FM Music Awards. A serious car crash in April 2005 left him in critical condition, but he was back on stage that November at Skinner Park in San Fernando for a concert called The Return Of Adesh, Thanks For Life. He signed with the label Fox Fuse in 2016 and was one of the finalists at the 2025 Chutney Soca Monarch.
