Behind the music

The story so far.

Voice is Aaron St. Louis, a soca singer and songwriter from Trinidad and Tobago. Cheers to Life brought him the International Soca Monarch title in 2016, followed by wins in 2017 and 2018. In a January 2019 Paradise Pulse interview, he explained that manager Lyndon Gomez gave him his stage name through the biblical story of Aaron speaking for Moses. He also recalled entering school calypso competitions as Gonzo Garlin and named Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin among his musical role models. His interest in calypso continued alongside his soca career: the same interview discussed his second-place Calypso Monarch finish in 2018. Speaking to The Gleaner in April 2026, Voice described gratitude as a quality that keeps him grounded. The listening selections below pair Cheers to Life with Alive and Well featuring the Bishop Anstey High School Choir. Both linked editions credit Voice and Precision Productions; the choir credit identifies the particular Alive and Well version.
