Behind the music

The story so far.

Superblue is Austin Lyons, the Point Fortin performer formerly known as Blue Boy. NGC Sanfest’s 2018 tribute places steelpan alongside his singing career: he taught himself to make and play pan and formed the Apple Stars Steel Orchestra. The tribute also describes his involvement in creating and managing the Culture House calypso tent and its record label. His Carnival repertoire includes Soca Baptist, Get Something and Wave and Fantastic Friday. Sanfest associates Get Something and Wave with the 1991 Road March and Fantastic Friday with his 2013 return to the winning circle. The selected listening entries present the latter two titles in specific provider editions. He also collaborated with Machel Montano on Soca Kingdom. These songs’ competition histories must be distinguished from the dates attached to compilations and later digital releases.
