Behind the music

The story so far.

Stanley and the Ten Sleepless Knights is a scratch band from the Virgin Islands. Wikipedia's overview of Virgin Islands music describes quelbe as the official music of the U.S. Virgin Islands and names the group as the most popular scratch band performing it throughout the islands. Smithsonian Folkways Recordings released the album Quelbe! Music of the U.S. Virgin Islands under the band's name. Its 17 tracks include "Cigar Win the Race", "Sly Mongoose", "Lagoon Mouth" and "Musician Want Something to Drink", alongside a calypso, several jigs, a waltz, a merengue and "Lancers Number 4". Smithsonian Folkways also published a short behind the scenes documentary in which Stanley Jacobs talks about quelbe as the official music of the Virgin Islands. The band also appears on "100 Years Strong", an official music video by Virgin Islands reggae singer Pressure, posted by I Grade Records.
