Start listeningBehind the music
Mical Teja is Mical Williams, a soca singer, songwriter and producer from Gonzales, Belmont. His career includes co-writing songs for Destra Garcia, Machel Montano and Patrice Roberts before becoming widely known through his own performances. In his January 2024 Newsday interview, he recalled hearing calypso at home, including Singing Francine, and discussed the production company System32 Music, which he co-founded with Kevin Beharry in 2014. DNA won Trinidad and Tobago’s 2024 Road March, as announced by TUCO. Newsday’s follow-up identifies Michael “Tano” Montano as its co-writer and co-producer with Teja. The selected D N A and Runaway listings lead into this period of his music. Their credits and the catalog’s separately named road mixes provide specific versions to explore without treating every later album appearance as an identical recording.
