Behind the music
The story so far.
GBM Nutron is Jason Carter, a soca singer, songwriter and producer born in Port of Spain and raised in Brooklyn. His father, bassist Ancil ‘Perez’ Ford, worked with Sound Revolution and Shandileer. In a 2017 interview, Nutron traced an early professional opportunity to writing and producing Fever for Kevin Lyttle, featuring Assassin. His career developed from making music for others to performing his own songs. In a 2025 Gleaner interview he named Michael Jackson and Gloria Estefan alongside Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin among his influences, reflecting the different musical settings he draws on. Calypso and Scene, both from Calypso: The Unsung Legacy, are the two selected listening entries. Releases also appear under the spellings Gbmnutron and GBM Nutron; their separate provider identifiers remain distinct while individual editions are checked.
