Identify Lord Kitchener’s 24-track collection titled 8, with Honest Jon’s archival context and a comparison of the label’s title spellings and the selected digital edition.
The label identifies the collection behind the short title 8
Honest Jon’s identifies this project as volume eight of London Is the Place for Me, devoted to Lord Kitchener’s recordings in England from 1948 to 1962. Its account connects the repertoire with migration, everyday life, politics and memories of Trinidad. The label credits Denys Preston’s Melodisc recordings, often made at Abbey Road, and says the compiled 78s were transferred and restored there. It also describes commissioned sleeve notes by biographer Anthony Joseph. Those statements explain the compilation’s archival setting; the physical sleeve and booklet are features of the label’s product, not promised components of the selected streaming edition.

Apple displays the concise album title 8 and a December 13, 2019 edition date, while the label supplies the longer collection title. Both captured sequences contain 24 entries, opening with Carnival Road March and ending with Kitch in the Jungle. Some displayed titles differ: Apple uses Life Begins at 40 and Tie Tongue where the label lists Life Begins At Forty and Tie Tongue Mopsie. The table preserves the selected provider’s spellings and track links. Matching sequence positions support comparison of the collection, without proving identical audio masters or changing the historical recording dates into 2019.
