Tano is the name used by Michael Montano, a soca producer who also features as an artist on his releases. His most visible partnership is with the Sangre Grande singer Coutain. The pair released Junction in 2023, a kaiso and soca track, followed by Jamtown on Tano's Heroes Riddim for the 2025 season. For 2026 came Wedding Band, inspired by Mighty Sparrow's 1968 song Mr. Walker, and Blockbuster on the Blockbuster Riddim. On 20 October 2026 they released Old Soul, another recording built around Sparrow's legacy. Tano also worked with Brooklyn Descent on Hey Choppi's 2021 debut album Love Trip, and he shares billing with Kes on Jub Jub. On 25 September 2026 he and Kimi released Chupidee with an official music video, an early single aimed at Trinidad Carnival 2027. SocaNews has described the Coutain and Tano partnership as linking calypso's past with soca's future.
