Behind the music

The story so far.

Skinny Banton is the stage name of Shirlan George, a jab-jab soca performer whom the Trinidad Express describes as Trinidad-born with Carriacou roots. The paper reports that those roots endeared him to the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, who adopted him as one of their cultural ambassadors, and that in August 2018 a New York State senator and the West Indian American Day Carnival Association also recognised him as a cultural ambassador. Its January 2020 feature centres on Wrong Again, then his current hit, and names earlier songs including Soak it Good from 2015 and Aye on the 2016 Gwada Riddim. The Aye listening entry below is a separate 2017 single edition, not that riddim release.
